How can I compare this program to other conditioning programs?

As stated previously, there is no other program like ours in the world. Athletic Republic protocols were scientifically developed, tested, and researched with input from exercise physiologists, orthopedic physicians, athletic trainers, physical and occupational therapists and many others. We use patented equipment designed for and used exclusively by Arkansas Sports Performance Center. Also, form equals function. If a runner's form is faulty, energy is misdirected and as a result, speed is lost. Combining continuous feedback from the trainers with visual feedback from the mirrors allows us to help you develop proper running mechanics sooner and more permanently.

How is the Acceleration Program different from what I can get at camps or other gyms?

Simply put, there is no other program like ours available anywhere.  Our program is based on years of science, research, and program modifications. Also, camps teach you specific skills for your sport. ASPC focuses on building speed, strength, quickness, power, and overall conditioning. We focus on making you a better athlete!

Is treadmill running the same as running on a track/overground?

Dr. Krams, a professor at the University of California Berkley, published a research study and found that walking and running on an adequately motorized and flywheel weighted treadmill is identical to overground walking and running. Normal fitness treadmills are NOT adequately motorized and flywheel weighted. The Athletic Republic Super Treadmill is unlike any other treadmill in the world. It has capabilities of a 40 degree grade and 30mph, therefore training on our treadmill is identical to running on a track or overground. Furthermore with more than 100,000 athletes now trained on our program, the calculated training bouts combined with the proven benefits of incline treadmill running documented in the ACSM Journal by Steve Swanson, make the Athletic Republic Program the leader in sports training.

Pricing?

Since we customize everything we do to meet the individual athlete's needs, pricing for the programs will vary. Most of our visits are around $25 each on average, but call for specific pricing information.

What about age limits?

Research has shown the greatest neurological changes in the body occur prior to age 13. Simply put, the more one can do prior to the onset of puberty, within a safe and controlled environment, such as Arkansas Sports Performance Center, the better neuromuscular system that athlete will have after puberty.   We can begin movement training as young as 7 or 8.

What can I do during the season to maintain improvements made during the program?

We have maintenance programs available throughout your season, and can be scheduled at your convenience.

What can I do to keep making gains?

Each program includes its own specific components and levels. For example, the running acceleration program has five levels. Each level of training involves greater intensity. Athletes can continue making gains in their performance by either completing the levels in succession or coming back after the sport season to complete the next levels. There are, however, certain criteria that must be met before an athlete proceeds to the next level.

What can I expect during my appointments?

Come prepared to work! Wear clothing that you would normally wear for exercising. Proper footwear is a must-shoes that are broken down are counterproductive to training and could even cause injury. Invest in a good pair of running shoes or cross-trainers. You should eat a light snack 2-3 hours prior to all training, as it will help sustain your energy.

What can parents get out of the program?

Sorry kids, this place isn't off limits to parents. We have a recreational athlete protocol specifically designed for the older, yet active individual. We also encourage parents to stay and watch their child training.  We also offer Crossfit, a unique fitness training class designed for those who don't like the normal gym scene, and for those who want real, functional results.  Click here for more info.

When should I begin the Acceleration Program in relation to the athletic season?

We recommend that athletes start the program 8-10 weeks prior to the start of the sport season to allow time for rest before the sport begins. To achieve maximal gains, athletes must allow for 10-14 days of rest prior to season training. Best results are achieved when the training is not interrupted.

Who is the program for?

Our programs are for athletes of all ages (starting at age 9-10 years old depending on physical maturity for our intense programs; 7 or 8 for basic movement training). We can modify the program for each athlete's abilities, so whether you are in junior high, high school, college, the professional leagues or a recreational athlete, you're sure to improve speed, strength, self-confidence and overall athletic performance. Our goal is to help every participant become a better athlete no matter what level they are at when they start the program. The more you put in, the more you get out.
